About these figures. They're drawn from manufacturer specifications and public display testing, and they're meant as a guide, not a datasheet. Peak brightness is the highest figure a panel reaches in a small bright window (HDR or auto-brightness), not what you see at a manual setting. PWM frequencies are approximate and vary by brightness level and firmware — where a phone uses DC-like dimming at high brightness it can behave differently low down. If a number matters to you for health or purchasing reasons, confirm it against a current measured review of that exact unit.

How to use this

The three columns most people actually feel are panel type, peak brightness and PWM. Panel type decides whether dark wallpapers save battery and whether blacks are truly black — see OLED vs LCD vs LTPO. Peak brightness decides whether a wallpaper survives direct sunlight. PWM frequency matters if you're among the people sensitive to screen flicker; higher is generally easier on the eyes. Pixel density above ~400 PPI is sharp enough that wallpaper resolution stops being the limiting factor — framing and contrast matter far more, which is the subject of the wallpaper-choosing guide.
